The Margery Newport Trophy and Foursomes were played on a beautiful spring day at Saffron Walden on Monday 28th April.
Although many of the players were finding the conditions a bit much, all appeared to enjoy their day and with a real ‘Feel good’ atmosphere!
The morning's stroke play round for the MN trophy saw Jackie Ewing of Newmarket Links Golf Club successfully defend her title for the third time – Well done Jackie! (seen here collecting her trophy from President Roz Bartlett) Her playing partners said she played well, and in typical Jackie fashion she said “I did what was needed to get the job done”!!. She came in with 74 gross and 70 nett. Sarah Greenall also from Links, had the next best gross score with 81. Best Nett score 71, OCB, was Donna Pollock from Cambridge Country Club from Jackie Henley from Saffron Walden Golf Club who was second.
The Foursomes competition which was held in the afternoon came in with the following results:
1st Jackie Henley & Vicky Rutherford Saffron Walden 41 points
2nd Jacqueline Watson St Ives Hunts Golf Club & Sally Rusted Gog Magog Golf Club 40 points
3rd OCB Sandra Williams & Tracey Parsons Royston Golf Club 37 points
Birdies were ‘flying’ with more being seen than ever before – our President's Charity 2s competition benefitting from the good golf! - 8 in all spread over all 4 par 3 holes.
President Roz played and enjoyed herself. She told us that her charity this year is The Angels Foundation UK, a local charity for women and children based in Cambridgeshire– a very worthy cause.
Please support all the raffles and two balls – it really will make a difference.
